‘I am a self-taught artist located in the beautiful state of Montana. My love for the outdoors has shaped me as a person as well as deeply influencing my artistic style and providing me with inspiration. I am moved by people and Creation, and so I am moved to paint. Art gives me the opportunity to share stories, feelings, and moments.
The things that I love – the beauty of nature, the intricacies of mankind, and the vibrancy of color – are the heart of my artwork. I find that everything which has been created has inherent beauty and value, and I seek to recreate this beauty in new and creative ways. To me, creating artwork is restful, peaceful, and a form of worship to God. It is my greatest passion, and I am honored to have the opportunity to share it with others.
I began drawing in middle school simply because I was given a sketchbook as a gift. I started by sketching portraits of singers from album covers. Thus began my journey of drawing portraits of people, which I continued through high school. I began commissioning my art during that time as well as experimenting with new mediums including charcoal, colored pencil, pen and ink, acrylic, pastel, and watercolors. Such experimentation began a journey leading me to where I am today. I find it difficult to name a favorite medium because each one has such unique elements, and I love working with each and every medium I use for different reasons. I imagine that I will continue experimenting with new mediums throughout my entire life.
Outside of art I spend much of my time adventuring and exploring the outdoors, another one of my greatest passions. I enjoy photography, hiking, camping, snowboarding, and mountain biking with my husband. I plan to travel to all of our National Parks to enjoy the beautiful and diverse lands that God has made, take photos, and paint.’ ~ Courtney Pomeroy
