‘I grew up on Whidbey Island in Washington state and moved to Bozeman just before starting high school. After graduating high school in 2014 I took a year off to travel and learn more about myself and the world around me. I went to Nicaragua and learned to surf. Skipping two flights home until finally my mother had to sell my car so I could purchase a plane ticket home four months later. That year I also spent some time surfing (and puking; a LOT) in Baja, Mexico. With a trip over to Thailand to finish out the spring with some climbing, I started classes at MSU and within twelve days realized university was not for me. This summer I completed my Yoga teacher training back in Nicaragua. Now I am a yoga instructor here in town. My paintings are inspired by places I have been, places I dream of going, and the people around me.’ – Malika
